New work culture in UP under Yogi effect.

Uttar Pradesh Government offices wake up to new work culture.

 | Lucknow |  Mar 30, 2017
Officialdom in the city of nawabs is beginning to give up its nawabi habits.

Its bureaucrats are gradually substituting paan and gutka with chewing gum and toffees. And they're beginning to arrive at work on time. At 9.30am on Wednesday, there was no place to park the car on the main campus of the secretariat.

"Full attendance hai, Sahib... babu log kaam chalu kar diye hain... isliye parking full hai," remarks a guard at gate number 7. This was not so barely 10 days ago, in a place infamous for set-piece replies like, "Sahib lunch ke baad ayenge (sahib will arrive after lunch)", and "Aao chalo chai pi ke aate hain (come, let's go for a cup of tea)".

A peon at the secretariat was pulled up on Wednesday by a bureaucrat as soon as he fished out a pouch of "paan masala", and was reminded of the ban on chewing tobacco+ in government offices. The man sheepishly returned the pouch to his pocket.

Another employee, a peon in the new Vidhan Bhavan building, said gutka and paan masala lovers were switching to chewing gum and toffees. "The best part is people no longer throw the wrapper around, they put it into their pockets," he said.

The state forest department has even put up posters in its corridors that say "Aap camere ki nazar mein hain. Gutka khane par Rs 1,000 fine lagega (you're on camera. Chewing gutka will attract a fine of Rs 1,000)." Most office premises appear cleaner. Corners stained with paan and gutka spittle have become history.

Attendance is up after the CM Yogi Adityanath+ urged bureaucrats to be ready to work 18-20 hours a day, warning them not to take home official files. A biometric attendance recording system for government offices is also in the offing.

"Whether my room has been cleaned properly or not is the first thing that I see," said UP minister of state for water resources Upendra Tiwari. He makes sure he reaches office before 9.30 am and has directed his staff to ensure that files are kept in order and that no dust is allowed to settle.

UP Cabinet minister SPS Baghel has directed his staff to give up chewing paan masala. In other offices, ministers are trying to set examples.

'UP Meat Traders Support CM Yogi Adityanath'

UP Meat Traders Support CM Yogi Adityanath, Says Minister After Meeting

NDTV Online Desk / LUCKNOW/ March 30, 2017

Days after the crackdown on illegal slaughterhouses, the striking meat traders of Uttar Pradesh had a meeting with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath this evening. While the four-day old strike was not immediately called off, the traders hinted at a positive decision, saying an announcement will be made after internal meetings.

After the meeting, state minister Siddharth Nath Singh said the meat traders have supported the Chief Minister and said as citizens of India it was their "duty" to see that nothing illegal is allowed.

The meat traders have been on a strike in protest against the police action, which allegedly didn't spare traders who were selling chicken and fish. After a chorus of protests and media reports, the Chief Minister had clarified that action was to be taken only against slaughterhouses that were operating illegally -- without proper permissions.

The government's move has found support from the All India Meat Association, which has hailed the Chief Minister for following his "raj dharma".

"Meat traders were subjected to injustice by the BSP and SP governments," Haji Shakeel Qureshi, the representative of All India Meat Association and All India Meat and Livestock Exporters' Association  was quoted as saying by news agency Press Trust of India.

"The new chief minister is following his raj dharma (the duty of a ruler), and it is wrong to comment on the one who is pursuing his raj dharma... He is trying to bring the system back on track and needs to be thanked," he said.

Action, he said, is being taken only against illegal slaughterhouses and there is no report of action against any legal abattoir, he said.

The Muslim who embraced Nath Sect and became Adityanath's gurubhai.

The Muslim who became Adityanath's gurubhai and Mahant of Bisnagar Yogi Math.

 | Mar 28, 2017, Ahmadabad

Aditya Nath Yogi , recently appointed chief minister of Uttar Pradesh , has a close Gujarat connection apart from his ties with PM Narendra Modi. The erstwhile mahant of a math (ashram) of Nath sampradaya in Visnagar, Mahant Gulabnath Bapu, who was born as a Muslim with the name Gul Mohammad Pathan, was the 'gurubhai' of today's UP CM, considered a Hindu hardliner.

Mahant Avaidyanath , the guru of Aditya Nath, was also the guru of Gulabnath Bapu. Their relation was so strong that when Gulabnath, 86, breathed his last, Aditya Nath came to Visnagar, Gujarat, to perform his last rites on December 6, 2016, and he also appointed the new mahant of the math, Sankarnath. The math runs temples and annakshetra (place providing free meals) in Visnagar and Vadgam.

Gulabnath had taken diksha at the age of 18 from Mahant Balaknath at Vadgam.

"Bapu was the sixth generation in guru-shishya lineage. His association with Mahant Avaidyanath of Gorakhpur math and guru of Aditya Nath Yogi+ was very old due to the dynamics of Nath sampradaya." said Sankarnath, the newly appointed mahant of the Visnagar math.

"Bapu also considered Avaidyanath his guru and thus he considered Aditya Nath as his gurubhai," Sankarnath said.

"Bapu was invited to Gorakhpur for every major event. When he went there last year, Aditya Nath had him felicitated by PM Narendra Modi," said Shankarnath.

Aditya Nath visits the math at Visnagar at least 2-3 times annually, said Shankarnath, adding that any Gujarat visit by the yogi starts from Visnagar.

"Yogi used to phone regularly to get updates on Bapu's health. It is not just about the Nath sampradaya connection as there are other places in Gujarat with presence of the sampradaya, but he feels connected to this place," Sankarnath added.

Mahant Sankarnath has high hopes about the UP CM.

Yogi effect on Jharkhand, State orders strict ban on illegal abattoirs.

Now BJP Govt in Jharkhand bans illegal slaughter houses.

Preetam Singhania | HENB | Ranchi | Mar 28, 2017:: Now, Yogi effect is seen  in Jharkhand as the state rrdered to ban all illegal abattoirs. Days after the Aditya Nath Yogi government’s crackdown on illegal slaughterhouses in Uttar Pradesh, another BJP-ruled state, Jharkhand, decided to ban all illegal slaughterhouses in the state on Monday. The slaughterhouses were given 72 hours to shut their illegal businesses if they failed to obtain licence from relevant authorities.
SKG Rahate, principal secretary, home, issued an order to all deputy commissioners and SPs along with authorities of municipal corporations, municipalities and notified area committees to ensure that the closure was effected immediately. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, that has issued licences to 62 abattoirs across the country, has not issued the same to even one unit in the state.
None of the country’s 75 approved abattoirs-cum-meat processing plants or 34 approved meat processing units have permission from the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority to operate. The Ranchi Municipal Corporation has, however, issued licenses to some slaughterhouses.
“Keeping in view safety and health of the general public, steps may immediately be taken for closure of illegal slaughterhouses. The principal secretary said that proper rules and regulations are already in place, issued by the department of animal husbandry, municipal bodies and health department,” the order stated.
With the issuance of the order, people engaged in the sale of goat meat or chicken will have to obtain licences from municipal bodies while those involved in slaughter of cows and buffaloes would have to close their “illegal” business. In 2004-05, the Jharkhand government had banned slaughter of cow and buffalo, violation of which invited imprisonment up to 10 years and a fine of Rs 10,000.
Ranchi Municipal Corporation deputy mayor Sanjeev Vijayvargiya said most abattoirs didn’t have a valid licence, and killing, selling or possessing cow meat was done in violation of the law.
Jharkhand is the seventh state where illegal slaughter has been banned under state legislature in the BJP regime there. Earlier, Gujarat, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh.

Being CM, Bigger Responsibility Resumed: CM Adityanath.

Yogi Adityanath Reminds People Of 'Certain Responsibilities' In Gorakhpur.

, Edited by  | NDTV, March 26, 2017, New Delhi

At a shelter built for cows in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath sent a veiled warning to the people who sent him to Parliament for five consecutive times that they had "certain responsibilities" and needed to progress towards development. The words were yet another emphasis on the message of "discrimination towards none and development for all" that Yogi Adityanath -- seen for years as the BJP's mascot of Hindutva -- has been sending out since he was picked for the state's top job.

"The people of Gorakhpur have elected me repeatedly. However, the people have certain responsibilities too," the Chief Minister said in what was seen as a message advising restraint to his supporters. "There will be no discrimination with anyone... society will develop along with everyone. We all will progress toward a new development together," he added.

Yesterday, on his first visit to the place that has been his home since his teens, he had saidJosh mein aake hosh nahi khona chahiye" (Don't get carried away by the victory)". The priest-turned politician had pointed out that any move seen as an excess will be used by the opposition parties to scuttle Prime Minister Narendra Modi's development agenda.

Gorakhpur has been the stronghold of the saffron-robed priest, who had taken charge of the huge temple and its charitable activities while in his 20s. But he and his followers have often been in news over various controversies. Yesterday, Yogi  Adityanath delivered a strong message that said now all will be treated as equals -- no distinction will be made on basis of "jaati" (caste), "mazhab" (religion) or "ling" (gender).

"There will be development for all but appeasement of none," he had said, in a dig at the erstwhile Samajwadi Party government, who were often accused of appeasing the minorities.

The Chief Minister -- for whom a visit to Gorakhpur temple's "gaushala" or cowsheds was a part of morning rituals -- has already asked the police to crack down on illegal slaughterhouses.

While the promise to shut illegal slaughterhouses was one made in the BJP manifesto, the overzealousness of the police had resulted in focus on all abattoirs, some of which got sealed on grounds as varied as lack of permit to draw groundwater and dysfunctional CCTV cameras.

Patrons of Criminal may leave Uttar Pradesh: CM Adityanath Yogi.

Those who give patronage to criminals have the option of leaving UP, warns CM Adityanath.

 | Mar 26, 2017, Gorakhpur

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister AdityanathYogi on Sunday urged the people help him break the negative image of the state and hinted at strong measures to ensure law and order.

"For the past few years Uttar Pradesh has been defined as a state from whose boundaries begins darkness, from where the pot-holed roads begin and the place from where the women start to feel insecure. I was to break this mindset," he said, and added that he wants to make UP a place, where women feel safe and secure.

Adityanath said, "I would like to assure that in the next two months, people would come to know how a state government should work. I have got an opportunity to clean-up the mess (kachdaa saaf karne kaa maukaa milaa hai), and I will do it."

The UP chief minister gave out a stern message to the anti-social elements and criminals in the state.

"There is no place for those who give patronage to the goonda elements, mafia, criminal and other rogue elements. They have the option of leaving UP or else they would land in places designated for them (jails)," he said, while hinting at massive revamping of law and order.

Underscoring the need for improved work culture, the Uttar Pradesh chief minister also said people who were prepared to work for 18-20 hours a day are "most welcome" to join him, the rest are free to leave.

"Time has come that we should work 18-20 hours a day. There no time for any entertainment (mauj masti)," he said.

Adityanath also announced a government subsidy of Rs 1 lakh for healthy pilgrims who want to go on the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.
Yogi paid obeisance at the temples and performed a road show in the city.
On Friday, Adityanath had visited the Dalit gang-rape and acid attack victim at King George’s Medical University (KGMU) in Lucknow. He also gave a cheque of Rs one lakh as compensation to the victim’s husband and directed the police officials to immediately nab the accused and initiate strict action against the guilty.
Earlier in the week, Adityanath had launched ‘Anti-Romeo’ squads to check on sexual assaults and harassment in public areas, ordered to shut down of illegal slaughter houses and also banned the use of pan masala and tobacco in the government premises in the state.
After being assigned the charge of India’s most politically-crucial state, Adityanath assured that Uttar Pradesh would soon be considered as the supreme state in the country.
Earlier, on Monday, the priest-turned-politician directed all state government officers to declare their income and assets (movable and immovable) within 15 days.
He had ordered all his ministers to do the same after being sworn-in as the Chief Minister on Sunday.
The Yogi Govt in Uttar Pradesh is earnest to fulfill all the promises as it delivered in the BJP manifesto for assembly election 2017.

Make UP roads pothole free by June 15, Yogi Adityanath tells PWD.

 | Mar 25, 2017, Gorakhpur

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday directed officials of the public works department (PWD) to make all state roads pothole free by June 15, 2017.

In Gorakhpur, which was his first public appearance after taking over as the state's chief minister, Adityanath declared that he had told the PWD officials to ensure that there are no potholes in the roads of the state by June 15.

The state had lagged on the development front during the regimes of the previous governments, he said.

An official statement released in Lucknow said that chief minister gave the instructions to make UP roads pothole free at a review meeting of PWD.

He also asked the officials to complete all works and projects within the prescribed time frame on a priority basis.

Adityanath also asked the officials to prepare a work plan to extend better facilities to the people residing in rural areas.

The chief minister asked for adopting e-tendering so as to make the system more transparent and corruption free.

He underlined the need to keep tainted firms and contractors having mafia, criminal and corrupt image away from departmental works and instead give an opportunity to those with clean image who can ensure qualitative work.
